Seventeen Things To Do With Your Business Card

You can get a lot more mileage out of your business card than simply passing it out at networking meetings. Here's a list of suggestions collected from business owners. You can add your own suggestion at the end of the list!
    • enclose one in the envelope when paying bills
    • leave one on restaurant tables along with the tip
    • include one when sending a note card to business associates
    • offer yours whenever someone offers theirs to you
    • when giving a referral, write it on the back of your business card and hand it to the person. Be sure to put a small arrow on the front so they don't accidently give your card away.
    • ask a friend going to an annual convention to take a small supply of your cards to hand out if they meet potential clients who could use your services
    • laminate it and wear it as a name badge when attending events where others may be wearing company badges
    • laminate it and make it into luggage tags (much safer than tags that tell thieves your home address)
    • trade a small supply of cards with a trusted colleague offering a complimentary service who agrees to give your card out to potential clients they meet during their day. Reciprocate the favor.
    • tuck one inside presentation folders
    • attach one to all outgoing correspondance
    • when someone asks for your card, hand them two: one to keep and one to share
    • jot your question or comment on the back and hand one to the speaker as you leave a meeting, workshop or program (place a small arrow on the front to alert them)
    • arrange with a professional offering complimentary services to leave a business card holder and small supply of your cards in their waiting room or on their reception countertop
    • attach a magnetic strip on the back (available at office supply stores) and give as premiums at trade shows, workshops, etc.
    • put a border around it and run it "as is" as an advertisement in the community newspaper.
    • have it enclosed in plexiglass and use it as a paperweight
    • give one to everyone you meet as you go through your day--have a goal of giving away 10-15 each day
